Newaygo Busted Mugshots and Custody
Newaygo is a small city of 2,471 people, per the 2020 Census. That makes it the county's second-largest incorporated place. The City of Newaygo Fire and Police page names the Newaygo Police Department and Chief Georgia Andres. What it does not offer is any current arrest log. There is no booking-photo page, warrant list, blotter, or records-request form either. That gap is worth remembering. A city contact page is not a roster, and it names no one in custody.
The Newaygo County Jail sits in White Cloud, not the city itself. It is the county's documented primary booking facility. A city arrest that turns into county custody usually generates booking material through that jail. Still, not every arrest ends up booked there, stays there, or appears online. A person might be released, transferred, or held by another authority. Any of those changes the paper trail. Need both? File separate requests for the city incident file and the county booking jacket.
Note: Booking and custody details say nothing about how a case ends, so the court record is the place to check disposition.
Where Newaygo Busted Mugshots Appear
Each official channel plays a distinct part. Newaygo Police handles municipal incident records. VINE shows current custody. County Administration processes requests for a specific county booking record or photo. None of them operates a routine online gallery. Start with the channel that fits your actual question, and skip the unofficial sites that just recycle old names and images.
| Official channel | Question it fits | What it does not establish | Where to start |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newaygo Police Department | City incident or arrest report | A daily booking list, photo page, warrant list, or current custody | City police contact page |
| County VINE/MCVNN | Current custody status and notifications | Booking photos, historical arrests, or a complete public roster | Official VINE page |
| Sheriff and County FOIA | County-held booking record or photo, subject to release rules | An instant city feed or a guaranteed full file | County Administration FOIA |
| County court records | Arraignment, case activity, and disposition | Present custody or a jail photograph | Official docket and MiCOURT links |
Michigan's booking-photo authority and its FOIA framework can back a request for a held record, exemptions and redactions aside. Publishing an image online is a different matter. No law requires it. Newaygo County discloses no online photo policy and no current roster. There is no 24-hour booking list, and no 48- or 72-hour feed. The honest statement: online photo publication is unconfirmed. That does not mean a photo was withheld or never existed.
Busted in Newaygo: Search Order
Work a city arrest inquiry in order. Status first, then custodian, then court outcome. The broader Newaygo County lookup route covers the county systems in depth. The steps here keep the city record and the county custody record from blurring together. One caution on VINE, though. A missing result there does not prove an arrest never happened. It may simply reflect release, transfer, a spelling mismatch, timing, or a custody setup outside VINE's reach.
- For present custody, use the official county VINE page and its VINELink handoff. Register only for the telephone or email status notifications the service provides if those are useful.
- For the city-side incident record, contact Newaygo Police or the city clerk and ask which form, scope, cost, and delivery method applies. No downloadable city records form or published city fee schedule was located.
- For a booking jacket or booking photograph tied to county custody, send a narrow FOIA request to County Administration. Include the full name, approximate date, arresting agency or location if known, and the exact public record sought.
- For the later case status, use the county's public case-information links. The 78th District Court handles arraignment, bail, misdemeanors, and felony preliminary examinations; Circuit Court handles felony matters after bindover.
State custody runs on its own track. MDOC OTIS covers people in state prison, on parole, or on probation within its stated scope. It will not help with a fresh Newaygo city arrest, a county-jail-only sentence, or a typical city lockup. If an OTIS image shows up, treat it as a state-offender photo. It says nothing about county booking-photo practice.
Newaygo Records Without a Form
Fremont posts a records-request form; Newaygo does not. The city's police materials include no request form and no booking-photo procedure. There is no published fee and no stated turnaround time. For a City of Newaygo incident report, call the department or city clerk. Ask which form and fee apply before sending personal details. Don't assume the county's form works for a city-held police file.

You can also submit an official county FOIA request online. Describe the booking record or photograph you want as precisely as you can.
The city's Police Resource Booklet lists Newaygo County Dispatch at (231) 689-5288. Dispatch can route a call well, but it is not a booking-photo system and no stand-in for the records custodian. Sheriff administrative support reports that incident reports are usually ready five to 10 business days after the report date, with a listed $10 price per report and variable FOIA costs. That timing applies to reports only. No online mugshot schedule exists behind it.
Newaygo Police Accreditation
In 2021, the city announced a milestone. Its police department earned accreditation from the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission, becoming the 37th agency in the state to do so. It is a real mark of professional standards. It is not, however, a booking-search feature. Accreditation does not create a city arrest roster or make booking material public. WOOD TV's accreditation report offers outside context on that achievement. But it is not a municipal booking feed either. For the department's published contact details, the official city police page is the source. For custody status, a county booking record, or a photo request, go through VINE, the Sheriff, or County Administration depending on the record you need.
Newaygo Jail Booking Timing
The Newaygo County Jail runs around the clock at 1035 E James Street in White Cloud. That says nothing about timing. The county's jail and sheriff pages post no booking-entry time, photo time, posting time, or routine release schedule. No verified same-day city feed exists either. The sheriff's report estimate, usually five to 10 business days from the report date, sits in a separate bucket from booking timing. It is not a promise that a booking photo appears after that window. VINE can answer a current-custody question within its own scope. A specific record request remains the supported route to the underlying booking material.
Newaygo Arrest News Sources
Once official routes are checked, local reporting can add event context. The Times Indicator, a weekly Fremont paper serving Newaygo County, is one option. Historical Central Dispatch Police Logs list a date, time, call type, agency, and city or township. Remember what those are. Dispatch records, not booking lists. Many calls involve service, alarms, traffic, or welfare checks with no arrest at all, and a selected log never captures every law-enforcement event.
Pioneer and Big Rapids News publish selected combined sheriff blotters by date window and note that not all calls may be reported. Near North Now has long been a local coverage source, but its homepage says publication is ending, so expect archived material rather than fresh reporting. Fox 17 covers selected regional incidents. Treat each outlet as a secondary narrative. None proves current custody or replaces the booking record. Mugshots.com is an older, unofficial Newaygo County index with a Newaygo city label; its material can be stale and does not amount to a live city roster. No verified Newaygo-local section exists for RecentlyBooked, Busted Newspaper, Arrests.org, or Mugshots.zone, and the absence of a directory page says nothing about whether an arrest happened or whether the official record is available.
Newaygo Busted Record Retention
Michigan General Schedule 11 is the public retention reference that matters for county booking material. Its inmate-jacket category can cover intake records, booking cards, mug shots, classification material, arrest cards, court papers, bonds, and release or transfer paperwork. The general retention period runs to release plus 10 years. That rule does not build a web archive, open every field, or guarantee release without lawful review.
When requesting an older Newaygo booking record, name the person, the approximate date, the arresting agency, the facility, and the type of record you want. The Sheriff or the County FOIA coordinator can then say whether it is retained, transferred, exempt, redacted, or unavailable. Keep any court disposition separate from the arrest report and booking jacket. Each exists for a different purpose. Each can tell a different part of the same event.
